Multiple Founders Slowing Innovation? Multiple Founders Slowing Innovation? I may be wrong but worlds most disruptive companies are run by single founder( or a dominant co-founder). Tesla, Apple, Ford, Alibaba etc. You wont push yourself hard enough when running with a co-founder you are kind of shielded. Only if you push yourself harder that you attain greater heights. This may be a rant as my reaction to YC fellowship rejection or may be it does make sense? Jesus was a single founder, Buddha was a single founder. In Hinduism there were a lot of single founders(rishis) also lot of them also had cohort(s) which in a sense are co-founders I think having a co-founder helps in short term but in really long term being single(with the right cohort) helps. Solution: I believe the solution is ancient Indian style Guru Shishya Parampara(Mentor- Mentee) when you should look for a Guru rather than a co-founder or start working on a prototype then find a Guru(Teacher). Currently its like "find a co-founder" is on number 1 or number 2 on the must have list. This is wrong (Note: Finding the right Guru who can provide actual positive value is very hard) Odds of Executing a successful start-up are already less and with a single founder, you sure are even reducing the odds of the company being a successful but if it is going to be a disruptive company it has to be a single founder company or the founders have be in so much in sync or one of the them should be doing something less significant(dominant co-founder).
