Unless you mean that is your opinion, there is no reports of this being a proved hoax... At least nothing like that on the front page results I went through.

That kind of shit is so tiresome.

The second most plausible explanation kinda aligns with the reality in the first part, at least:

a crazy person staged this and then escaped (and maybe killed him/herself.)

.. either way, why is this interesting? (is it even ethical to make something like prominent?)

can't believe this made it to HN. I'm so tired of this story coming up on brazilian news, just a kid desperate for attention and everyone is losing their minds as if he was part of some sort of ~dark cult~.Clearly just news channels who have nothing to talk about making loads of money over this story.
