Ask HN: Importance of Finishing Degree as a Late Career Jumper Some context, I started studying CS two years ago when I turned 30 and wanted to switch from a business career. I am 75% done with my degree and did very well so far. But I now started working full-time at a pretty successful startup. Since I do not have any other CS credentials apart from the partly finished degree and a scholarship I feel like I should finish it. But everyone keeps telling me that work-experience is more important than the degree. What do you think? I decided to aim for 80% work 20% studying for now, but would really love some perspective on this. How would you look on someone applying who didn't finish his degree (but with very good grades for the part he did)? Thanks in advance |
