Going to interview friend/founder of GoRails.com What should I ask him? TL;DR Perhaps I am really asking "what question do you wish someone would ask you?" Full explanation I have found that the communities a person belongs to is usually a good resource for questions so I thought I would ask Hacker News. What do you wish people knew about your field? I've done interviews with a chemist, an investment banker, a cardiologist, an architect etc. My audience is intelligent but they don't likely know that many computer programers. I would like to ask Chris questions that allow me to help people understand what you do and why they would be fascinated if they understood what you do. Most people have no idea what programmers do all day, why they are actually valuable, and all the ways you could apply the knowledge of coding. I have known Chris for a long time, but even I don't know what to ask a programmer. He rarely talks about his work on www.excid3.com and gorails.com but I know that he makes tutorials and gives talks at conferences. Doing this interview is a way to get him to talk about his work more- so I would love some help thinking about the right questions to ask him. Chris runs a successful business, and once pitched for Y-Combinator- he is the one that introduced me to Hacker News and many other things over the years.
