I just discovered the SMART method (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) to set goals. I really like it and want to apply to my programming projects. I was wondering whether there is a tool or strategy to MEASURE efficiently the progress of a goal ?

In my open source projects, I use the number of commits to measure the progress but I feel it's not enough nor precise.

I would really appreciate knowing the tools/methods/technics used by HN community to MEASURE ?
