Is YouTube becoming cable television? Youtube is becoming cable television regarding advertisements. Advertisements are increasing in frequency and duration. Time is a highly valuable resource. Lost time is never found again. If I'm not mistaken, generally a 30 minute cable television program in the United States has around 7 - 9 minutes of advertisements. Advertisements are frequently necessary for companies to offer free products. However, when the advertisements jeopardize the integrity of the product, it's a problem for me. The net experience on Youtube has gone down. It's only fair to put this in perspective. Youtube is not the worst advertising or video experience compared to other websites. Many news websites come to mind with un-skippable ads. I focus on Youtube because of their scale and influence. I hope there isn't a day where downloading a Youtube video locally, and then watching it, saves you more time than viewing all of the mandatory advertisements. /s Thoughts? |
