I have been wondering this for a while and thought this would be a good place to ask. Assuming goal is to maximize money, should you

A) Just barely do your full-time job (enough to not get fired) and focus on building something on the side. (think indie hacker)

B) Give 100% of effort to your full-time job, get those promotions and bonuses, keep switching companies every 4 years maximizing pay etc.

for comparison, let's assume a typical software engineer job at FANG.
