Ask HN: What eBook reading software do you recommend? I am an avid reader and I bet so are the people here. Basically my checklist for the software is:
1. Being able to read PDF, EPUB, MOBI, and AZW3.
2. Highlighting and Note taking.
3. Synchronization between Windows and Android (uploaded files, the files' annotation, and reading progress).
4. Good UX. I have used: - BookFusion: it worked well for the first, the second, and the third item in my checklist, but half of the fourth, I guess. The Android app works well, but the web reader on PC sucks. It reloads every time I turn the pages, and that makes the reading experience feels suspended. It also does not allow me to turn pages by scrolling, which is very unnatural. - Google Play Books: it worked well for the first, the third, and the fourth item in my checklist, but only half of the second. The app deliberately remove the texts of PDFs that I upload, which disable Highlighting and Note taking on the file. It really sucks, since half of the ebooks I want to read are PDFs. Thanks for reading and I really hope for a great suggestion from you guys. I glanced at FBReader and BlueFire, but I was lazy and decided to ask away. |
