I guess it depends on how you take his closing comments (which are clearly made elsewhere and edited in, how can we know he's even commenting on the same thing?) .. but taking them at face value:

'We humans are losing faith in ourselves ..' as a response to the desire to replace human creativity with tech, is a poignant comment that we should reflect on as we decide what to automate and what to leave up to humanity.

In a way I wonder if the story of Neelix from Star Trek Voyager would ease Miyazaki's concern for humanity. People eat his 'bad' cooking even though they can replicate perfect dishes, because there's something valuable in (sentient?) creativity.

Title is quite sensationalist, as an understatement.
