I just spent some time with a colleague going over the user agreements for both Plaid and Yodlee, which we both found insanely invasive to the point of seeming offensive, and a quick glance at Digits’ user agreement shows similar language. Which leads me to think, maybe the real game here is to create something similar to Plaid? Maybe what Digits is trying to do is provide middleware that someone else finds worthy of acquiring? Sort of a fintech repeat of what Digits was when it was phone number confirmation middleware for apps?
