Ask HN: "War on talents" but startup are implementing "no vacations" policy? Apparently, we have "war on talents": startups are complaining how it is hard to recruit top talent.
However, on the other hand, many of these startups are actually offering "no vacations policy" which basically means less benefits and smaller salary (if you quit you don't get accural paid off). Maybe I'm naive but these two trends are not compatible from my point of view. Why companies are offering less benefits while complaining that there is hard to recruit top talent? Who is advising these companies to do things like this? Or maybe this is just a trick to target demographic of talent pool without actually saying "older than 35 need not to apply"?
