Using Vue or React only on the frontend, via an api is a pretty good time, imo.

The interactivity is pretty hard to beat. If you were looking for this experience to also further your career, I'd say using React would be pretty hard to beat. React is still eating the JS world.

But if I were off on my own, building my own site to live off, I'd definitely see if Vue did the job. Having built complex projects with both, Vue is definitely simpler. I haven't written with Vue in a few years now, but still find React to just be much more complex.
