Also, this article doesn't even seem to link to the actual discussion! It's just an opportunity for the site to opine on Jordan Peterson. And it makes dubious factual claims in the course of doing so, such as: "Of course, in order to be fair, we will have to highlight the positives first: Jordan Peterson was a relatively obscure psychology professor at the University of Toronto when, in 2016, he began his crusade against the Canadian government’s 'Bill C-16'". Umm, I'm pretty sure Peterson had some degree of prominence prior to that, no?
As to the general quality of the site, a perusal of the articles...is unimpressive, even where I agree with the author(s). The general vibe strikes me adolescent and "Muslim edgelordy" almost. Like, the whole tone is adolescent, sneering, and disrespectful towards almost everyone else--Muslims of a more liberal bent; in some places even more traditional Muslim scholars, when they don't agree with the author(s) about every damn thing; other religions. You name it. Only Muslim Skeptic is (are?[0]) correct. There are just too many problems with many of the articles to even enumerate them here, like holy shit. One of them purports to convey a "Muslim perspective" on Elon Musk's proposed takeover of Twitter. There is no "Muslim perspective" on that matter. The concept is nonsense. Their recent abortion article makes no actual reference to Islam's internally diverse discourse on the matter, which discourse is obviously much more balanced, reasoned, and thoughtful than anything written on this pseudo-intellectual, sometimes hate-filled site.
Real disappointment of a site, given that I think Muslim intellectual discourse is lacking, and the authors may have been capable of contributing to it, if they weren't so damn immature and mean-spirited.
Oh turns out they are anti-vax too: https://muslimskeptic.com/2021/12/09/on-the-vaccine-religion...
Yet another blight on our religious community. We are supposed to be a pro-science, pro-medicine religion, and this is disgusting. Luckily, as mentioned, the site doesn't represent the general sentiment among Muslims in the West. I am happy for the authors to continue to feel isolated and angry.
[0] They are very non-transparent about who many of the authors are, which hardly lends them any credibility. See, e.g., the author of this article: https://muslimskeptic.com/author/bheria/
