Ask HN: How about right to extended use? Like right to repair, wouldn’t it be great if web-connected product companies were required to make it easier to extend use of their products? I simply want to save my Ring Doorbell camera photo to cloud storage when someone presses the doorbell so that I can show it on a digital picture frame inside. It can’t easily be done because Ring has no public API that IFTTT can use. Of course, legislation would have to trigger only when a company reached a certain level of revenue maturity, much like CCPA, so as not to stifle an up-and-coming product company.
