Post Snowden, I imagine many have went dark and used Tor exclusively. Not that Tor is a magic bullet, but it makes many of these data mining operations pointless. I know for sure NSA run exit nodes, but although crypto won't save you, properly implemented crypto will save you. This article mainly applies to the other 90% who are not encrypting their comms.

Your ISP can still easily tell you're using Tor, and the government itself runs a ton of exit nodes.

If TFA's claims are true, how does Tor actually help keep you safe in this instance?

Such a capability is an extremely serious threat to privacy.

How is it be legal for ISPs to share this sort of data sans warrant? Terrifying. Yuck.
