I'm reminded of a quote by Roger Waters of Pink Floyd when discussing the recording of "The Dark side of the moon"

"Waters has said the words for “Time” came from a eureka moment he experienced as he approached the age of 30 and Floyd were putting together Dark Side. He had spent his adolescence and young adulthood waiting for life to begin, only to discover that he was already living it. The notion is reflected in the lyric, “And then one day you find 10 years have got behind you / No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.”

This reminds me of some internet comment during the first lockdown. Paraphrasing :

"This is also life, not just something you have to wait through before it begins"

A lot of people will wait their entire lives for the perfect circumstances, while an imperfect start years ago would have taken them further.

That being said, the author could use a break. That's a lot to do at once, especially when you announce it to others. I prefer to give myself as more space for random impulses, so I'm more conservative in my commitments.
