HTTPS seems to be broken and the HTTP link brings me through a series of crapware redirects before landing somewhere random.

Is ... that intentional?

I think it's just a bot/spam site that does not have HTTPS enabled. Most likely the domain was taken over after the registrant did not renew.

If it's a joke I don't think it's purposeful, the HTTP page loads a bot/spam site. Most likely they would have had the HTTPS page mirror HTTP if they had that HTTPS up and running.
