Are there any new companies making desktop software using the so-called traditional model? (Autodesk, et al)

I am writing a personal desktop program - an organiser/tasks app that meshes with my lifestyle; existing solutions really don't. I wondered if there are any new companies that are making software using the early 00's/90's-era model in this age of web apps...
