As a hacker, I'm interested in this because it's historically unprecedented and OP has linked to a primary source document rather than some shallow summary of it rushed out by a journalist. It'd be nice if people could abstain from flagging it and discuss the substantive/legal questions raised in the document. If you don't like politics, you don't need to participate.
It's Democratic Party operatives in the Federal bureaucracy vs Trump. It's strictly political, and we really are veering off into tin-pot dictator territory here. The third world tactic is now a US precedent--just throw nonsense charges at your political opponent until he is either in prison or bankrupt. Or gives up. I suppose they are annoyed because he hasn't given up. One such person in a lifetime--it's all we'll get.
