Recall there was a fad for "DNR orders" (Do Not Resuscitate) a while back? Some folks even got "DNR" tattoos.

Anybody ever see one honored? Or did they get the whole family in the ICU around the person, and make them all talk to the person about how "we're not ready to lose you" and get that order rescinded, possibly against the wishes of the patient?

fear the good intentions of loved ones at life end; they'll tell themselves that extending suffering (for everyone) is better than making a clean end.
