I guess I'm glad Apple isn't evaluating what I'm spending my $ on and taking 30% of some of my Venmo & Zelle payments/transfers.

Only because of backhand deals. Try to make your own Venmo or Zelle and see if Apple waives the 30% for you.

The teachers in question are Guided Meditation Helpers and it seems the "tips" were their primary income generator, not their pay. Because of this, Apple concluded that these were not donations.
