I feel like people who do this achieve it more by practice than some generalised intelligence. Most of the popular puzzles seem to revolve around essentially just tying different arithmetic combinations until you find the set of sums that explains the output. That seems like a very easy skill to train, yet I don't think doing so would improve your general intelligence. That said, the second puzzle in the linked tweet is quite good.
