It's not dangerous. It's just gross. It's illegal because the law doesn't want to draw fine distinctions about which foodborne insect infestations are safe and which aren't.
There are dangerous cheeses. They're made with raw milk and not aged, and carry a real risk of brucellosis. This is not that.
