People, including journalists, are uncomfortable with ambiguity. On top of that, many journalists are subject to audience capture. So it is easier to find a cat that enjoys a bath than it is to find a sober, even-handed pundit on Israel/Palestine.

There have been 'civil wars' about this issue recently at many other news organizations. The quote "the BBC does not and cannot reflect any single world view" strikes me as reasonable.

If anything, a lack of conflict would worry me - because a news outlet that reports on Israel/Palestine without some of its staff complaining is assuredly one whose management either believe Israel can do no wrong, or Israel is pure evil.
