When I read this, I am reminded of the novel The Sea-Wolf by Jack London. Implicitly, the ubermensch is an important theme in the book. For those of you who have also read this novel, what do you think, does it relate to the current generation of broligarchs?

When I read this article, I find that the ‘vision’ of libertarianism or innovation or futurism isn’t the part that bothers me about what is being labeled a tech oligarchy. It’s less about constraint and more about concentration of power. You can’t really have a society where others feel similarly free and ‘liberated’ if power, wealth, and influence are aggregated in the hands of very few.

This needs to be addressed in many different ways. The biggest companies, particularly the big tech companies, need to be broken up using new antitrust laws and also face much higher taxation. Neither will happen in this new administration, however. And the second piece is the reduction of the power/wealth accumulated by a few ultra rich individuals - again not viable under this new administration.
