remember, when someone says "see, billionaires can't buy elections" you should ask them to be specific about which billionaire they mean.
And now his threat to fund primary elections against anyone who doesn't blindly support Trump is shown to not only be completely hollow, its worse than that because there's every reason to believe his support is brand-toxic to whomever he supports in a way that far outpaces the money injection he brings.
With this election outcome he's been exposed as a complete lame duck when it comes to being any sort of political kingmaker. And now that he's exposed Trump is very likely to toss him away in the near future like he did with Giuliani or Mike Lindell or any hundreds of people he discarded when their usefulness to him was used up.
It was easy to see it couldn't hold together, but the shocking part is how quickly it crashed everything from alliances to the economy.
The billionaire Pritzker gave $1.5 million to state Democrats.
By comparison:
> [Musk] endorsed Schimel in January and has donated $3 million to the Republican Party of Wisconsin to date. Groups linked to him, including Building America’s Future and his own America PAC, have also spent more than $17 million, according to the Brennan Center.
It also mentions the billionaires Richard and Elizabeth Uihlein. "Richard has donated $1.65 million to the Wisconsin Republican Party and Elizabeth has donated more than $2.34 million. Their PAC, Fair Courts America, has also put $3.96 million into the race, all in support of Schimel."
Hey, I have an idea! Let's heavily tax the rich and turn all of those billionaires into multi-millionaires! $10 million in wealth ought to be good enough for anyone, right?
And no trust funds or charities or other legal methods the rich use to pretend the money isn't actually under their control.
unironically - right.
