Kinda straight-forward to understand backlash when you see how it's being handled. It's being forced on people without any option for opt-out. Most of the time, does not deliver on what is promised. Has obvious ethical and moral issues that make opt-out a must have.

The entire thing is being handled so poorly it feels like the entire bubble is engineered to collapse by design. Almost like it's the point. Which could be, when these companies collapse, the data people submitted becomes part of the package people buying the bankrupt entities assets can nab, and a lot of that data is a wet dream for companies otherwise prevented from gathering it.
