Kiyeovo is a decentralized, end-to-end encrypted messenger. It requires no accounts, no email, no central servers. Peers find each other and talk directly over libp2p. kad-DHT stores messages for offline peers and handles finding other users by their username/peerID. After almost a year of solo development, this is the first release. More details are in the repository README, but in short, here are the features: - realtime end-to-end encrypted messages - Direct & group video and audio calls with screen sharing options - messages securely persisted when the other side is not online - group chats, group calls - fast mode is for normal day-to-day use: lower latency, relays, audio/video calling - anonymous mode is for Tor-routed messaging. Better anonymity, but slower and no call support - encrypted file transfers - trusted profile import/export - identity backup - no central account or message server -> use trusted bootstrap/relay servers or self-host This is a single developer effort. It has not had a formal security audit so please don't rely on it where your safety depends on it. Feedback and bug reports are very welcome. P.S. The repo contains addresses of infrastructure nodes that I published, so for a quick start and no friction, you're free to use those. Try it out! |
