Some people who are high in "narcissism" in the dark triad sense have a less developed sense of self which actually helps them mirror other people -- this is particularly true in the sexual space where it's likely that someone else's turn on will squick you out and if they're not self absorbed and the link is up they can feel your suppression and the link will break.
