If the founders and investors walk away with piles of money, the business is profitable in a very important way even if it loses money until it dies.
Of course, that perspective is not particularly morally attractive to many people.

Some influential investors tell everyone, including themselves, they are good at holding off the magic when they are only good at holding off the math. It's rare, and it's not FOMO!
