But we need to make sure we prosecute and imprison every single one who committed a crime.
Those are the two options. Either our political system continues, in which case yes, they will de facto give up money, power, status, and legal protection. Or our political system does not continue, in which case all bets are off.
We're in a very precarious position, but the actual ICE goons' own preferences to retain money/power/status will not be a relevant factor at all.
I don't know what history you're referring to, because the most salient comparison set is obviously the last 250 years of American history. Across those 250 years, administrations and policy configurations have changed over just fine dozens of times.
If you're comparing this to some other country's challenges with getting rid of a security force, which other countries had comparable institutions and a comparable balance of weaponry between "the security forces" and the public they are trying to oppress?

Which demographic group in US society is more likely to own and be willing to use guns for political ends, liberals/centrists or hard right reactionaries?
You would be quite wrong on that front. I was warning people for months leading up to it. But notice how the personal motivations of security forces played literally zero role whatsoever in January 6? It was a political and legal maneuver, which is what we need to be more vigilant of than "oh no what if we fire a bunch of losers from their jobs?"
It's easy: we prosecute the ones who've already committed crimes, we fire the rest, and if they choose to commit crimes after that then we prosecute them too.
> Which demographic group in US society is more likely to own and be willing to use guns for political ends, liberals/centrists or hard right reactionaries?
Oh no, I'm so afraid of the "I'll do everything for my country [ but wearing a mask in a grocery store is LITERALLY a crime against humanity ]". These people are afraid of (they have literal fear responses) to tampons in bathrooms.
Rightoids are fundamentally cowards. That's why they cling so much to tradition to begin with and why the march of liberalism carries on despite their big macho schtick.
