Please fix.
How can I change the title?
Apart from this, "winning" an election is not the same as actually becoming the government.
What exactly went wrong for this catastrophe to happen?
The AfD's only selling point is that they'll end immigration.
Here's what happened: 2.6 migrants coming to Germany in 2022 alone. Net migration into Germany in 2022: +1.4 million.
There are many germans (and many people in the EU) who don't like to see mass-migration from Africa and the middle east.
It's those who let that happen (and pushed for it) who are responsible for people voting for extremist political parties.
The same is happening in France and even Gabriel Attal (ex french prime minister) said France failed to control both its legal and illegal migration and that now he wants to only allow in migrants who are coming to actually work (Gabriel Attal is probably going to be a candidate to be the next french president).
You cannot look at the AfD and say "bad AfD" / "evil neo-nazis germans who voted for them" and not take a cold hard look at what happened with migration in the EU these last years.
And there are many Germans and others who don't like to see Jews in positions of power. Were the Weimar Republic centrist parties at fault for not "remigrating" Jews before the Nazis took power?
Don't you guys have the heartless Hartz IV reform for years?
The problem, as in the US, isn't too much social help; it is too much social help for people they hate. They want the state to give them handouts, they just want it reserved to themselves, who are better, because they were born that way, and not "those other people", who are naturally lazy, because they were born that way.
Many things.
"most popular party nationally"
But not as bad as it sounds, because we have many different parties, and the majority is not AfD.
It's difficult to convince people in an idea if your goals are noble. If they are not, it's a lot simpler. The basic fear is that they will lose what they have right now and are easily manipulated into magnifying those fears.
Are they aware that the AfD wants to introduce homeschooling?
https://www.news4teachers.de/2026/05/afd-will-schulpflicht-f...
Probably not, right? I mean, unless they're criticism is that they totally would love to teach their kid all these things much better than they do in school, but the kid won't accept homeschooling in the afternoon when it already went to school in the morning, but I kinda doubt that's their issue.
Anyways, thanks and kudos for talking to and listening to them. I think our society really fucked up in that regard. I have to think of things as old as "Deine Gewalt ist nur ein stummer Schrei nach Liebe.... ARSCHLOCH!", if you know what I mean... then we rested on being better than the poor conspiracy theorists and "Covidioten" and whatever. Rarely do we try to work with people we find "too disagreeable". And now we have the salad :(
That's the only explanation that makes sense to me, without calling lots of people Nazis/fascists/communists etc.
And turnout was way, way up, indicating that a lot of people went out to vote.
Like, I dislike who they voted for, but as a democrat, I want more people to vote so I'm a little conflicted at the moment.
A catastrophe named democracy. Leftists are rejecting democracy and embracing autocracy to get their way.
By the way, you've got egg on your face.
We have to anchor the center somewhere for the labels to have meaning; anchoring it to some point that is not the average/typical view needs heavy justification. Maybe we can say afd is still far right today, using some trailing average, but eventually if they remain popular we'd have to admit they're just the right.
This is my take: Poverty makes people not vote for some parties. But making so many vote for a party, especially with unconstitutional goals, is the result of a lot of desinformation. The AfD uses any possible opportunity and any possible topic to tell people that Germany is rotten to the core - while it is truly one of the riches country in the world with mandatory health insurance and unemployment compensation. (Not saying that Germany does not have significant problems. Far from.) Then, they tell people whom to blame (refugees, jews, homosexuals etc.). This builds up hatred. it is not important whether anything of this is true at all. All that counts is: They can continue to be angry.
There are enough YouTubers who show AfD voters contradictions in their arguments. The AfD voters usually react with even more hate. They just want to see things burn while accepting any possible collateral damage.
Why do you hope that? The AfD supporters already chant Sieg Heil at meetings.
They could have removed their "radical" (code for: neo-nazi) ideas months ago and they could have got more votes and/or a coalition to implement their "good" ideas. Instead they doubled down on them even though it sabotages their "good" ideas. Why do you think it is?
>>They could have removed their "radical" (code for: neo-nazi) ideas months ago and they could have got more votes and/or a coalition to implement their "good" ideas. Instead they doubled down on them even though it sabotages their "good" ideas. Why do you think it is?
I think they realize anyone who thinks illegal immigration is the most important issue (a lot of people) will vote or them anyway so they double down on craziness to mobilize the voters. Their strategy works pretty well but they are playing on easy mode because the rest of the political spectrum is tone deaf. I guess their leaders don't even talk to normal working people.
I feel so angry and ashamed for what the EU bureaucrats and politicians have done to the EU.
Many people do feel like me. I'm not german but I know that half of that region didn't suddenly wake up "neo-nazis": they're people who are fed up with what the politicians have done to their countries.
You cannot change abruptly systems / countries / cultures by flooding them massively with migrants from different cultures by the tens of millions and expect the entirety of the population to, like you, beg for more.
Some people have never changed, only hidden, and now they're coming out. They've been trying since day one, but enough of the people who remember the bad old days are dead, and everyone needs to relearn the cyclical lesson once again. Usually it doesn't take a major war, hopefully this time won't either.
Tell us what has changed abruptly. Concrete examples.
And if things have changed so much, why do they seem stuck in the 1930s?
>they're people who are fed up with what the politicians have done to their countries.
And that is why they vote for billionaires to get the right to punch poor and different people. And to shout "Sieg! Heil!" at meetings.
Oh, sorry, they shout "Sieg! Mund!". Totally different /s
>half of that region didn't suddenly wake up "neo-nazis"
Funny how they still have the same chants and slogans.
Besser kann ich's nicht unter schonender Schutzatmosphäre verpacken.
Is Russia going the have Soviets 2.0 where this time the Orthodox Church is part of the administration and Germany will be Nazi Germany 2.0 but this time Jews and Homosexuals are welcome?
I don't get how they make the jump that this is the fault of immigrants, LGBT or the Green.
My conclusion after seeing trumpism is not that they are suffering because of external factors (left behind, abandonned by the state, et .) and thus turn to grifters selling them the Moon: their poverty has the same origin as them getting suckered by grifters: an internal inability to assume failure, learn from mistakes and improve, instead blaming everyone else but themselves, and thus being stuck at the bottom of society as it should be. Grievance from losers who will never, ever admit any wrongdoing.
Oh my god, man, how much of a know-nothing are you? And how do you expect your lies to get a pass when I know about that period?
Where did the Nazi sit in the Reichsrat? And the Italian fascists in the Italian Parliament ? And the French fascists?
I am not inventing the term BTW, it was a major topic of the interwar period:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_question
With the argument that their religion was incompatible with European society...
And what proof do you have that if the normal parties did "take care" of getting rid of immigrants, people would stop voting AfD? Because every conservative party I have seen trying to adopt the far-right's points have just ended boosting the far right even more. Nobody want the copy when they could have the original.
Jews were citizens and residents, part of the society. Illegal immigrants are not and the society has a say in legal migration policy. People don't want illegal immigration at all and they want to limit legal migration, especially from Islamic countries.
>>And what proof do you have that if the normal parties did "take care" of getting rid of immigrants, people would stop voting AfD?
Any ruling parties that continue to let illegal migrants in big numbers already lost any credibility. People are not that dumb. They want the issue solved and they know current main stream parties won't do that.
If you are in power and you are not doing anything about the issue you will naturally boost far right because people hope far right will actually do something. hhhhhhhhh
Ask them their opinions about Jews, too.
Yes leftists are the least likely to know AfD supporters.
>Ask them their opinions about Jews, too.
The most openly antisemitic groups in Germany are leftists, so, I don't want to ask them about their awful opinions about the Jews.
Remind me the score of the AfD today?
Undemocratically outlawing the opposition to secure the vote...
>Remind me the score of the AfD today?
Remind me of party that is calling to undemocratically outlaw the opposition to secure the vote?
https://www.yahoo.com/news/germanys-social-democrats-back-pr...
They legally won a plurality in the Bundestag, which is sufficient for Hitler to be legally appointed chancellor, which made everything that follows legal. Like it or not, the Nazi regime was a legal result of democracy. Democracy, neither then nor now, requires an absolute majority, which is why so many European governments are formed as coalitions.
AfD did not win a majority in Saxony-Anhalt either. Nevertheless, a person can justifiably feel disappointed by the democratic outcome, both then and now, without being dismissive of democracy itself.
> You're following me around in the comments
I am doing my part to eliminate misinformation and stupidity in the world. You're welcome.
No they didn't. The elections in 1933 were not by any means "free democratic elections." The election was far from fair and legal. It was carried out in an atmosphere of intimidation and illegal violence against political opponents.
>Like it or not, the Nazi regime was a legal result of democracy.
Wrong, this is false. They undemocratically jailed and then outlawed the opposition to secure the vote.
>Democracy, neither then nor now, requires an absolute majority, which is why so many European governments are formed as coalitions.
No one made this claim.
>AfD did not win a majority in Saxony-Anhalt either. Nevertheless, a person can justifiably feel disappointed by the democratic outcome, both then and now, without being dismissive of democracy itself.
The opposition parties and opponents are being dismissive of democracy itself. They're fascistically attempting to ban the AfD... banning the opposition to secue the vote, like the Nazis.
>I am doing my part to eliminate misinformation and stupidity in the world.
The best way for you to do that would be to stop posting. Thanks.
Yeah it's a problem. That's why I am very bitter about mainstream politicians. Instead of solving the issue at hand they chose to let far right get into power.
>>Hence, we have to say "no" to right-wing ideas as early as possible.
Having selection process for people who get into your country and deporting people who get around it is not a right wing idea. Same goes for punishing criminals instead of being more and more lenient towards thieves and thugs. Those are common sense ideas that reasonable people from all sies of political spectrum agree on. Seeing how mainstream parties ignore them and the only people willing to talk about there are far right politicians is very disheartening.
You are cute in thinking your argument holds, but they were not that far (33, 37%) without outlawing the opposition - which were communists directed by Stalin. You profess your hate of the left in all your other posts; if you were in 1933, would you really mind?
>Remind me of party that is calling to undemocratically outlaw the opposition to secure the vote?
The law that would allow to ban the AfD is there since 1949. Reflect why. And also reflect why Germany is a constitutional democracy and not just a democracy.
Your quote from above specifically calls it "the last free election" whereas any history book will tell, and you just admitted, that isn't true. You're contradicting yourself. The elections in 1933 were not by any means "free democratic elections."
>which were communists directed by Stalin.
And many members of the SPD, trade unionist, etc.
>You profess your hate of the left in all your other posts; if you were in 1933, would you really mind?
I would have been attacked by the Nazis and sent to a camp.
>The law that would allow to ban the AfD is there since 1949. Reflect why.
Germans poorly thought they could ban "fringe" groups like Marxist and neo-Nazi to stay a democracy. The AfD is not a fringe group, they just won a plurality in a free election. Reflect on why you want to ban a party that was just elected democratically without violence in a free election.
>And also reflect why Germany is a constitutional democracy and not just a democracy.
A constitutional democracy is a democracy.
In fact, which antisemitic leftists are close to governing anywhere in Germany right now? Have any antisemitic left party reached 44% of the vote anywhere?
And third question you will certainly answer without fail: which party wants to talk less about the Shoah and uses nazi slogans casually in its communication?
Yes.
>In fact, which antisemitic leftists are close to governing anywhere in Germany right now?
Hopefully none of them.
>Have any antisemitic left party reached 44% of the vote anywhere?
Thankfully not.
>And third question you will certainly answer without fail: which party wants to talk less about the Shoah and uses nazi slogans casually in its communication?
The leftist parties that have leadership leaving over antisemitic worries: https://www.jpost.com/diaspora/antisemitism/article-825929
Can you please tell us about your first-hand experience with AfD supporters?
> The most openly antisemitic groups in Germany are leftists, so, I don't want to ask them about their awful opinions about the Jews.
I think you meant to write "anti-Zionist" instead of "antisemitic."
Certainly the Jews don't think the AfD is their friend. https://www.haaretz.com/world-news/europe/2026-09-07/ty-arti...
They showed up to vote in democratic elections whilst their opposition seemed to ban them.
>I think you meant to write "anti-Zionist" instead of "antisemitic."
No, I meant antisemitic.
>Certainly the Jews don't think the AfD is their friend.
Certaintly the Jews dont think DL is their friend when party leadership is leaving over antisemitism worries. https://www.jpost.com/diaspora/antisemitism/article-825929
But speaking of it, Putin was stationed as a KGB officer in saxony in the cold war(allegedly being responsible for radical west german left terrorists) and speaks german. I surely noticed lot's of russian propaganda channels. They became a big thing during Corona and became obvious russian (at least to some), when the channels that propagated antivaxx before suddenly reported anti Ukrainian propaganda and also openly support for the russian aggression.
