Google is constantly trying to force Chrome on me from Google Maps, for example. When I tap a link it will ask which browser I'd like to open the link in, Chrome, Safari (maybe?), or the Default. Every time I select Default and tell it not to ask me again. Despite this, I've been asked at least a dozen times. What good is a default browser option if Google keeps prompting me anyway.
Sign-in with Google is also a problem. From what I've read I can only disable it if using Chrome... so to stop a Sign-in prompt used for tracking purposes, I have to use a browser that will track me all the time.
I hope this turns into an offensive move from Apple and not just a defensive one. I'm so tired of Google trying to shove Chrome down my throat. They have nearly 70% market share (more when adding in all the various Chromium browsers), they need to stop trying to play the victim. Safari is the only browser preventing Google from having a complete monopoly on the internet.
If Apple is going to track these nags, they better hold themselves accountable too. Google's misbehavior is no excuse to copy their dark patterns.
I noticed it starting in Mojave onward, but it apparently started in Yosemite. Either way, horribly disrespectful UX.
