This is a mildly interesting article, but if you don't want to read all three pages let me summarize it for you:
your penis has a ridge on it because sperm can live in a vagina for up to 48 hours. The ridge is meant to move any sperm that was in the vagina (potentially another male's) out of it. Longer penises can go further inside, and are better at removing sperm from further inside of the vagina.
