It is time for us to act; Take a position and stand by it. I propose that we block the impending Comcast-Time Warner Merger. Sign my petition : http://wh.gov/lvuPH It is irrational to consolidate media access under the guise of robust regulatory control and our professed cultural ideals of freedom of access given the capricious interpretation of laws by the United States Courts. (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/20/business/fcc-to-propose-new-rules-on-open-internet.html). Watch Senate Hearing and judge for yourself (http://www.c-span.org/video/?318477-1/comcasttime-warner-cable-merger). If you watch the video, it is somewhat irrational to assume that cable prices for Comcast should rise substantially given an increase in content prices when COMCAST OWNS NBC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acquisition_of_NBC_Universal_by_Comcast). IN fact, we had this same argument in 2009 when Comcast bought NBC. I understand the argument for consolidation and the benefits of efficiencies of scale. But what we will see under our watch is monopolistic consolidation. And I am willing to refute proposed arguments for the this merger and elicit support to block it.
