Ask HN: Bootstrapping an alpha version of a new app Hi I am entrepreneur bootstrapping a new sort of a music collaboration app. Also, I have no technical background. Just wondering if people have some rule of thumbs for how much they would/should be paying for an alpha version before they reach out to investors. I had a quote for an MVP by an Eastern European company: Design - c.$1,100 Programming - c.$7,500 Days to complete - c.35 business days Just to give a bit of background on the MVP requirements: 1. Sign up screen required 2. Two main screens: - first main screen is basically a screen where users browse between musical projects and select one they want to listen to. Users basically flip between enlarged images where a bit of information on the project is placed on the image - second main screen is for the selected musical project. In this screen users can see a list of all the audio tracks contributed to the users and click to play this audios 3. Need to develop a server side to handle audio tracks being uploaded by users for storage and streaming for other users to listen to Does this sound like a reasonable price? If so, would you bootstrap this or seek early investors? Thanks |
