you are going to have to get people to agree on a bytecode which will never happen for multiple reasons. Most notably b\c of how mature all the JavaScript engines are at this point, but also because the ECMAscript committee can't even agree on a new spec, ES6 being a good example. A more likely outcome would be an OS provider like Apple to let you write web apps for the desktop that can be compiled to native or bytecode.
