Firebase is here to stay and grow. You can expect the same great development experience, tools, libraries and community commitment that have become synonymous with Firebase. Nothing will change for you. Andrew and I will continue to lead Firebase. We’ll continue to be platform agnostic and provide clients for iOS, Android, Web and more.

Why?

Google is doing exciting things with Google Cloud Platform. They’re exposing technology to the public that was previously only available internally at Google.

Google’s backing allows us to dramatically scale Firebase. With Google’s engineering talent, resources, and technical infrastructure, we’ll be able to do much more, much faster.

More importantly, the Google Cloud Platform team comes to work each day for the same reason we do: to help developers create extraordinary experiences. Together we can deliver a world-class platform for mobile and web apps.
