I’ve had the general shape of this in mind for years. Nub runs your code with stock `node`, augmented with a `--require` preload hook[0] that adds a transpiler (oxc-powered, packaged as a Node-API add-on), registers a module resolution hook[1], and injects polyfills as needed for APIs like `Worker`, `Temporal`, etc. All purely additive, your code ultimately runs using Node’s actual engine & stdlib implementations.

Over the past six months, there hasn’t been a single day where I’ve checked the HN Best RSS feed without seeing a post about how AI “writes bad code,” “introduces bugs,” “creates technical debt,” or something along those lines.

I’ll probably make a lot of enemies by saying this, but do people realize that code is just a means to an end?

Users don’t care whether the code was written by AI or by hand, or which framework you used. They care that the product works.

I say this as someone who has spent more than 20 years honing their craft as a software engineer.

Let’s face it: by the time I manually ship version 1.0 of a product, the AI-assisted version could have been deployed 10x faster. By then, enough real-world feedback would have surfaced to identify the major issues, and tools like Claude Code would make it possible to fix and ship version 2.0 at an incredible pace.

At some point, execution speed starts to matter more than the elegance of the code.","time":1780713111,"title":"Ask HN: Why is the HN crowd so anti-AI?","type":"story"}],[48115425,{"by":"Kate0CoolLibby","descendants":55,"id":48115425,"kids":[48156592,48176492,48157498,48159552,48156725,48157832,48156622,48158164,48159064,48159897,48182780,48156799,48164917,48159497,48157887,48157522,48159176,48164497,48156890,48159530,48162270,48160679,48158403,48166002,48158201,48158968],"score":89,"time":1778624811,"title":"I Bought a “Junk” PSP From Japan","type":"story","url":"https://gardinerbryant.com/i-bought-a-junk-psp-from-japan-heres-how-it-went/"}],[48085821,{"by":"cylo","descendants":749,"id":48085821,"kids":[48088051,48094236,48090067,48095984,48090332,48087467,48090863,48088398,48088433,48090984,48090315,48091489,48087372,48096074,48088612,48088205,48095236,48092846,48087368,48090822,48087595,48087666,48096275,48087298,48087966,48088711,48090788,48087705,48091702,48092396,48092406,48092163,48093827,48092072,48087807,48090676,48087828,48090258,48091091,48094194,48088320,48094860,48088958,48087474,48092427,48093642,48091761,48088436,48091074,48089303,48088206,48087215,48089094,48096329,48090592,48091641,48093239,48092531,48089935,48091444,48091517,48093767,48090302,48088337,48091299,48088008,48092941,48095697,48093337,48095258,48095347,48089458,48090224,48094642,48107881,48091972,48110892,48087885,48087400,48090574,48088943,48092290,48095437,48088249,48087511,48095261,48096665,48092717,48094471,48091884,48092451,48104506,48088310,48091559,48088431,48087432,48166274,48096132,48103954,48093870,48091959,48102239,48093280,48092441,48106911,48091992,48091733,48092304,48090602,48089668,48088740,48087504,48089133,48093235,48092947,48088462,48087668,48090505,48090783,48090443,48110291,48093020,48097590,48087415,48087394,48088877,48096141,48085972,48088332,48087171,48088831,48094395,48088708,48090549,48091027,48093532,48094975,48092005,48093102,48090247,48088399,48091604,48154611,48089950,48094349,48153541,48090843,48096787,48097072,48089734,48088913,48091962,48094992,48093087,48094779,48091977,48093112,48088524,48091994,48091939,48088378,48096496],"score":1903,"time":1778433568,"title":"Local AI needs to be the norm","type":"story","url":"https://unix.foo/posts/local-ai-needs-to-be-norm/"}],[48093100,{"by":"orhunp_","descendants":245,"id":48093100,"kids":[48099275,48093856,48094022,48093553,48093754,48093523,48095389,48094206,48097463,48093421,48094175,48097079,48096448,48094042,48094723,48093548,48093938,48095962,48096847,48096988,48093747,48097638,48097752,48096128,48095425,48102854,48093442,48093473,48096093,48099759,48102469,48096002,48094768,48099371,48094219,48095479,48093839,48100566,48095724,48101323,48096621,48096099,48102841,48095843,48093620,48097656,48095288,48094601,48096883,48109765,48096098,48094802,48094530,48096632,48096957,48096029,48103613,48095299,48106879,48097910,48096502,48093934,48093693,48096082,48096217,48096282,48096590,48093615,48096456,48094770,48095828,48094503,48103828,48097226,48093779,48098632,48094799,48093649,48093826,48094563,48093828,48096897,48094989,48093805,48094366],"score":678,"time":1778494384,"title":"Ratty – A terminal emulator with inline 3D graphics","type":"story","url":"https://ratty-term.org/"}]]
